Theology 102

The Development of Doctrine

Discover the rich and dramatic story of Catholic theology in this free, online course at the ICC.

Two thousand years after Christ, the Catholic Church remains the guardian of the same faith entrusted to the apostles and handed down to their successors throughout the ages. Meditating on the truths revealed by Jesus Christ and clarifying them through crisis and controversy, the Church has deepened her understanding of the deposit of faith over time. This course will examine the major figures and methods used throughout the centuries to develop Christian theology. It will trace the earliest beginnings of Christian thought following the apostles, the great age of the Fathers of the Church, the rise of scholasticism, and the challenges to theology in the modern period.

This free course will run from July 28 – December 8, 2022. Lectures will take place online on Thursday evenings at 8:00 PM ET. Recordings will be made available after each class. Click here to preview the course syllabus.

The last day to apply is Thursday, July 14.
